Experience
I have always loved tutoring, for one of the best parts of learning is being able to share that knowledge with others, especially when those others feel comfortable enough to offer their own perspectives of whatever issue is being discussed. Tutoring in the Humanities is about encouraging a dialogue in order to discover answers instead of being simply another occasion for rote memorization (as a History major, I know all about the pitfalls of trying to remember dry dates and facts on their own!), and I strongly believe that one's success as a tutor should rest on helping students be able to think over and present, support, and play with their own ideas and interpretations, as well as to have the confidence and flexibility to adapt those same arguments if and when needed, should new or further information arise. As to myself, I graduated from high school in 2005 with a 4.00 unweighted (4.75 weighted: 5.00 APs in US History, English, and Government) GPA and took time off before college to work for an environmental consulting firm (at fifteen I had been accepted by the University of Cambridge, however the university requires students to be eighteen before taking up their place). While in high school, I was employed by my school district to tutor fellow students in English and Math in preparation for the California High School Exit Exam, and at university I worked as a research assistant at the Centre for International Relations (University of Cambridge) and privately tutored students in History (American, European, Middle Eastern, and African), Classics, Political Thought, Government, and Theology/Religious Studies. Alongside activities that were related to my degree, I led science outreach programs at local secondary schools (combined middle and high schools) and helped run hands-on events at the Cambridge University Science Festivals. Currently I am firmly entrenched once more in the Humanities and am happy to tutor either individuals or small groups.

Hobbies
I like to read, dance, play sports, act, and, after four years in cloudy, rainy England, spend time in the California sunshine. I love to travel (it's the historian in me. So far, my favorite country to which I've been is Jordan and my favorite city is Cape Town, South Africa) and I can't wait to discover where my next adventure will take me!
